I have some new brake lines on order from Nippy Normans but have been scared off by mechanics as thay say that the servo assisted ABS are tricky enough at the best of times.

HAs anyone fitted braided lines to a GS with servo assisted ABS ?

There no different to other brakes except....

With the igniton 'off' and the bike on its centre stand operate the brake lever (thats both foot and lever) approximately 10-15 times. You do this to evacuate any stored hydraulic power. Now its ok to undo and remove the oe hoses and fit the braided stuff.

Word of warning, this system was designed to work with the more absorbing type of hoses that come as standard, think long and hard before you fit these fancy after market hoses. Why do I say this, simple really you may find the brakes altogether too sharp and get no chance to develop any feel, when the ABS operates it may also be fiercer than the designer intended and you may just find your self 'on yer arse/ead or what ever in the middle of the road'.

Yep they look nice but do you really need them?

Que some one to say I'm talking bollocks now.;)

Get in first......

with this I know the ABS is supposed to stop the wheels skidding but the effect of unforgiving braided hoses may just upset the apple cart.

What about the GSA?

Whilst I must defer to your superior knowledge Tony (no not sacasm) surely the GSA has the option of servo brakes with braded hoses?

Must admit that my servo'd standard hoses give lots of power but little enough feel as it is - should hate to think of them being even more fierce.

Yep, you are quite right, braided stuff on the GSA. I'm not saying don't fit the braided hoses, just think about it before changing.:)

Too fierce on the rough stuff and its a tumble...just ask Euwen McG.

braided hoses? why not!
all they do is allow the rider more feel of the braking effect,
and if fitted you will adjust your riding style regarding braking to suit.

i have been fitting braided hoses to cars and bikes for many years,
all i know is they improve things ...
