My dealer is saying my front discs are due for replacing as they are down to 4mm the BMW tollerance. I need pads anyway( apparently) but suspect my Discs would be good for amny more 000' of miles. the bike is 2008 and has covered 40k. The rear disc was replaced last year at 4mm but I felt in hindsight It was an unnecessary expense. Feedback welcome please. Also any ideas about getting Pads and or discs replaced at less cost. I live in Hampshire near Petersfield and Alton. Thanks JJ Jeremy

James Sherlock do non OEM ones for about £60 each (I had a rear which is fine), with new screws and a torque wrench its not a long job. BMW discs are about double.

if you are going to keep the bike it maybe its best to do it, if you dont you maybe need to keep a close eye on them for wear and cracks as they get thinner

Jeremy, as far as I'm aware, they have to tell you when they reach a tolerance because of their customer service. It doesn't mean you need to change them.

If I were you, I'd make an appointment with Steptoe of this parish and get him to check it over for you. He'll also supply top notch discs and pads if necessary. He's in West London just off the A3 so not a million miles from you. As your bike is out of warranty, I'd get him to service it as well:thumb
