Brake discs.

If you have an ABS ring on the left side you will probably only have to fit 5 to the right disc and double up the wavy washers on the left if there's too much float due to the ring being compressed / worn.

:confused:My GS is a 2001 non-ABS, but even if it did have ABS, the ring mounts onto dedicated lugs on the hub? - so as far as I can see you would still need 10 washers:nenau - also don't understand the need to double-up on wavy washers?
Maybe the later EVO brake set up is different? - or I'm missing something, never really study the ABS rings as I don't have one.

Update... checked MaxBMW fiche and EVO brakes use the same mountings as the disc - unlike the Brembo caliper set up on the earlier GS.

The ABS ring basically does the same job as the stainless shim washers do which is to provide a non wearing material between the aluminium spigot and the disc itself, the spigot wears against the harder disc and that's where fitting the stainless shims helps.
If you fit shims on the ABS ring side it seems to offset the pads too much and you get too much brake drag, the stainless ring does the same job anyway. My bike failed a MOT due to a little too much float on the left disc (total arse of a tester) so by doubling up the wavy washers the float is now minimal and there's no disc clatter whatsoever.

Just my humble findings

Interesting reading above, so i just popped into the garage to look at mine !!
2001 1150gs non servo abs - the abs ring is on its own lugs, and the disc is on its own lugs, so I needed the repair shims and wavy washers for the 5 bolts each side.

Yep, that's the same as mine - except I've no ABS, so no ABS ring - but as far as mounting the discs is concerned you need 10 of each part that's required or worn:thumb

Yeah, some models are different so it's down to the set up. My 04' with the Evil brakes has the ABS disc mounted on the same spigot as the brake disc so there's no need for the shims on that side but doubling the wavy washers helps. If you have separate fixing points for the disc and ABS ring then it will need 10 off to stop the disc wearing the aluminium...I only need 5 on the right side so a huge saving in cost :D

Do we know what model GedJack has
