Hi all,

What are the safe min thickness for 1100 brake discs, I think the book of words says something like 4.5mm? How far past that can you go in the real world, he he.

It's just coz I have noticed rather excessive brake wear at mo, thought it might also be due to the disc's getting skinny rather than just riding like a complete loon at mo.

Are there any better aftermarket disc's around that people have tried, Bolt straight on type, can't be bothered with modifying.

cheers joe-he

For such a safety critical item, I wouldn't risk running the discs thinner than the 4.5mm min as this could end up invalidating insurance in the event of a claim.

Stealth Viper discs are what i'll look at next. £109.99 each for full floaters & only £64.99 for rebuild kits in future.

Tel: 08705 134859 & they're in Sheffield - home of steel.

Do these full floaters work with ABS equiped bikes?
And whose the supplier, or is there a website for the manufacturer and/or importer?

Bugger, I just realised a problem here.

Apologies, but I'm running R1100R alloys with full floaters on alloy hubs. The 1100GS takes the same discs as the 1150 doesn't it....

I would still contact them & see if the do a replacement kit for the GS. You won't need the hubs so the price should be similar to a rebuild kit @ around £65 per disc. I kept their details from the Manchester Bike Show in January but they don't show any website address on the leaflet.

PS: They also do wavey discs for the same price as standard ones.

HTH,

Stealh Discs are sold by Trade Direct 08705 134859
There also really cheap for C&S kits not much good to those on here unless youve a 650 :D
