I was informed that my rear brake disk is below the wear limit at last week's service. Bit surprised as the bike has only done 27,000 miles although the service rep said they usually only last 18,000!

They quoted £250 to replace it, which I laughed at. Apparently the parts alone (disk, bolts and pads) are £200.

Anyone got a source for something cheaper? Seems mental that I can get four disks for my car which contain 10 times the material, for half the price of one bike disk!

Dave, I just replaced my rear disk at 29K, not due to wear limit, the caliper had corroded on the floating pins and stopped floating = buggered disk & caliper.
See my PM.

EBC do a replacement disc - about £65 as I recall.

Car discs would cost a bit more if made of stainless. Car discs made in the same batches sizes as motorcycle discs would cost considerably more.
