Rang dealer today to book my GSA LC in for 6K service and was asked if I wanted the brake fluid changing at the same time, apparently BMW recommend fluid change at 1 year old then every 2 years, bike is 10 months old so agreed to have it done, however when I had 6K service done last year on my previous GS LC they changed the brake fluid as part of the service.

Basically what I'm asking is has anybody else had this, has something changed with the service schedule or is it the dealer seeing an opportunity to scam more money out of me ?

i was told bmw now do the first brake fluid change early as they don't know how long the bike has sat around before sale.

dealer has always charged me extra for the change on top of service price.

I had mine serviced (6000) last week and they changed the brake fluid on my GS LC as part of the schedule. I have to say, for some reason, the back brake is much better than it was before. Maybe there was air in it or something , it was never spongy but it's a whole lot better now.

IMHO, its scheduled at 6k and then every 12k afterwards merely to offset this from the valve adjustment services so you are more likely to bring the bike in every 6k rather than every 12k. My dealer said to just change the brake fluid every 2 years, just like every other bike.
