Changed the fluid in the front brake and clutch reservoirs at the weekend and since then the lids have been weeping fluid. Not a lot but enough. The sight glasses are fine and the fluid is definitely weeping from the edges where the covers meet the rest of the switch gear units. I cleaned the inner seal things and I've tightened the fastening screws down as tight as I dare without stripping them.

I'm guessing I need new inner seals but is there anything else I should check?

Ta.

they shouldn't leak if they are overfilled anyway, should they?

funny they both leak after you've changed the fluid though

assembled correctly?

Screws out, lids off, seals out, fill with fluid.

Seals in, lids on, screws tightened.

:nenau

My tame repair monkey warned me this might happen when he sorted my front brakes.

He says that some weep and some don't, but that it's never serious, and often stops of its own accord.

Is it just the case where some has got onto the gasket? Had this on another bike, wiped it for a while, & it stopped.

Sounds like it's the seals having a bit of fluid on - at least that's what Balderstons suggested earlier today too - will keep a close eye on it ;)

The first time I did both jobs I had a slight weep from the brake reservoir. I took the top off again and dried off the seals and the edges of the reservoir....no more problems. Have since changed the brake fluid twice and the clutch fluid once and have had no further problems.
