Brake hose replacement

Is it worth getting a stainless hose that connects directly to the caliper, or keeping the metal pipe section?
I'm thinking straight to caliper might prove easier when tinkering with brakes than having to slacken off the metal pipe section.

My 80g/s came with a pipe that fastened straight to the caliper. I changed it in lso its blue which I didnt like too much. If you want to try it, you can have it for a very small consideration, Are you going to Baskerviulle this weekend? If you are I can bring it along.

Yes, I'll be at Baskerville (Hoorah!). Is it a steel braided pipe? If so I'll bring a small consideration along.

braided hose

I bought one on ebay supposedly for R80/100GS, but it has same size banjo at each end - like the master cylinder one on my current hose. Is this one for fitting straight to the caliper ?

Yes Mine is a goodridge braided hose but covered with a blue plastic sheath.
It does have banjo's each end so requires double ended fittings (which are included) .
The small consideration ,by the way is either a winning lottery ticket or a pint. anyway try it and see. If you dont know me I suggest you ask Proff as the university wobbly box will be the most distinctive landmark on site

I've just fitted the bracket need to keep the front brake hose in some sort of tidyness when you have a high mudguard compared to the lower one. After a couple of hours of fun with very tight unions and noticing the braded upper section rubs on the tank I'm considering changing to the single length pipe.

Does it work or do you need the extra joint that the solid then flexible gives you? Part of the fun was the stainless pipe trying to tie its self in knots, which meant needing to undo the lower of the unions that is involved with the solid to flexible pipery.

Also, anyone got any photo's of the normal master cylinder and how the pipe exits from it on the non PD, paralever 100GS? I suspect if I got a longer pipe that I have now, which goes behind the indicator stalk, then it could go in front and not touch the tank. Which might kill two birds with one stone

And while I'm at it an being a lazy person, what length pipe did you use to go from the master cylinder to the caliper, or even better a part number / link to the pipe I need.

You guys probably will know each other, you were both on the Fords ride at Baskerville last May.

Both on white bikes (though one was a 650 Dakar, the other a miss-fireing 80g/s)
One in a red one-piece suit with a black helmet. The other in a black suit with a red face from trying to start his 80g/s.

They do do a single hose for the 88-94 R80 but not R100

Mine was the wee coloured fruity gin, Packers was the gin we had with tonic which was very nice and I'm hoping to sample again soon.
