Hi,

I'm having some odd issues with the brake light on an 1150GSA single spark ABS.

With the ignition on and side light/head light off, the brake light works fine. With the side light/head light on the brake light is fully on constantly. Both times its using the 21 watt filament in the bulb.

I have tried a new bulb, I've taken off the light housing, cleaned off all the connectors, made sure nothing is touching in the wrong places and I have checked the wires are connected correctly. I know its not the brake light switches as it works fine when the light/head light is off. I've looked over the fuse box and wiring, but I can't see anything a miss?

I've tried searching but couldn't find any answers. Has anyone else had this problem?

Kev.

Bulb may well be in 180 degrees out. The prongs on the sides are different heights on the metal cap to prevent this, but if pushed in hard enough the bulb will go in the wrong way.

The bulb is a bmw one from motorworks, so I know its the right one. Also its fitted right and the bulb is not moving at all. Also its not upside down!

I can't see anything wrong with the bulb or any of the connections to the bulb. So I'll have a good look over the wiring again at the weekend.

I can't remember exactly but i think i had a similer problem some time ago, and it was the ignition loom - two wires had broken through the covering and were touching.

But as i've said it was a while ago and i can't remember if the symptoms were identical to yours, just remember lights/brakelights and wires broken.

Disconnect the brake light switches both together and one at a time and see if the problem still persists

Hummmmm the problem has only happened once since I cleaned off the connectors. That might have been the reason? but I'll check over the wires once I get a chance.

Cheers for the help.
