interesting thread
the irony here is that we all know BMW dont make brake pads
they done make discs either.
in fact most of the sum total of parts that make up your BMW are not made in 'mainland' europe as its too expensive

Brake development would be done with a partner such as Ferodo ( federal mogul) ATE etc brake performance would be balanced between effectiveness and wear rate, the actual brake material would be chosen from a catalouge of established 'mixes' to keep costs down.
They dont want them to last too long, as us bike lads are conditioned to replacing them every 10k miles ,no good making last for 24k !
and to keep costs down again they most probably manufactured in eastern europe. a lot of mercedes car parts are made in hungary !
So
chosening a well know OE pad manufacturer and you will be OK
If the manufacturer of the pads you want to buy dont supply anyone as original fitment and only aftermarket then ask youself why ? and would you want to use them.

Hungary is mainland Europe!
Most of BMW parts ar manufactured in Romania ,Grece and Hungary

paddy's

Thats for one disc, so not a pair - i.e. a full set for the front discs.

My pads for Larrys particular model are actually £16 a "pair" as you call it. £32 for the whole front end.

The type i sell (ferodo platinum) don't wear the discs out any more than BMW pads. EBC pads do that :D

Plus i've seen plenty of worn/warped discs from bikes using BMW pads. Just check out all the complaints over warranty claims for discs posted on this site :augie

My pads are £16 for that model. Later pads are £18. Motobins £20.

A word of warning - Do not be tempted into buying the cheap "european made" pads advertised.

Yep i concur!
Fitted Ferodo platinums and these replaced original bm ones, far better feel and bite. imho. :thumb2

buy the best pads .there r what stop you hh pads from ebc r good and cheap last well,if you service the brakes every 4k and new fluids and clean pistons the pad life is x 2 in miles but hey its only brakes

Can we have that in English?

Are you saying that the fluid needs to be changed every four thousand miles?
