Brake pads

You won't want to hear it but genuine BMW are the best.

I've had genuine BMW since I bought the bike, but I've just bought some ebc from eBay for way less then half the BMW cost, I just decided 150.00 for a full set of BMW pads was taking the piss.

....but I've just bought some ebc from ebay for way less then half the BMW cost, ....

I've done this. But found they lasted way less than half the mileage. Gone back to fitting genuine BMW.

I used genuine BMW organic rear pads and they were down to the metal in less than 4000 miles. I almost never touch the brake pedal so entirely unfit for purpose and I have a nearly new but now chewed rear disc to prove it.

I've replaced with EBC sintered and will be using the same when the fronts need replacing. Ferodo are also excellent products.

Just to hear the howls of horror from the people with too much money.

Ebay and Goldfren.
Been using them for 7 years and no complaints from me. All over Europe & Alps many times.
Always change rears with your new back tyre.
Let the screaming begin!

I used Goldfren on the Yamaha 900 running R6 blue spot brakes (not dissimilar to BMW callipers) and the weight giving 15 to 20K miles and no problems

Ferodo from Steptoe are hard to beat. I use them as they are cheap enough, give great stopping power and they seem to last for ages.

Indeed, genuine or Brembo for me

EBC, just taken some of those out of a bike I have bought, PO had just put them in and were brand new

Absolute crap, no feel and so slung them in the scrap bin, in the garage

Sorry to hijack the thread here, just been on the web site and found the spark plugs are quite cheap too

If you also need discs, they are offered with free postage. Order all other service items at the same time and get free postage for everything.
I ordered Discs, pads, filters and plugs. arrived in 5 days, tracked all the way with DHL.
Euro exchange rate not quite as good at the moment but still great value.

I used ordinary NGK single electrodes with the same heat rating as the twin electrodes type. They have done at least 10K miles with no issue whatsoever. Fancy iridiums don't make the engine run any better so why spend the extra cost.

The old twin electrodes secondaries were very tight to remove (probably the originals). They had almost welded themselves into the engine. Single electrodes would not last as long so less likely to get seized in place.
