Guys,

does anyone know if there is a temperature sensor that feeds the ABS Brake failure system??? The reason I ask is that my Brake failure light comes on spuriously. Stop the bike, turn it off and on again and it clears? I asked before but only got a few suggestions. I've since noticed that it only seems to happen when the weather it is hot? I Say weather rather than bike as it happens on start or after a number of miles for no apparent reason?

I ride to work each day 50 miles.......no warning lights come on during the ride. Bike is cold first thing?

Cold day, ride home, no lights.

Hot day, ride home light comes on????:eek

Might just be me but.................

Just had it serviced and system reports all ok? Set off from garage and warning light came on....warm day!

Rode 50 miles Sat afternoon and light came on! Wouldn't go out!!

Went into my garage on Sunday (nearly hottest day of the year) and light wouldn't clean even on the stand and not having gone anywhere!!??

Got on it Monday morning.........no light. 200 miles later, cool, cold days...........no light!!!

Just a thought but am I going mad:rob Am I having rational thoughts or is the sun getting to me!!??

Itake it you've checked the guard/brake lever clearance and foot brake etc?
Havn't heard of a temp connection to this warning.

There is not. If the ABS system is showing a light it's time to have someone read the stored fault code(s).

brake failure warnig light fault

Guys,

just thought I'd pass this on. Took my GS for it's 6000 mile service at CW Motorcycles, Dorchester, where I first reported the fault some 3000 miles ago. System was tested then and no fault found.:rob
This time they checked the system and stored memory faults and confirmed the internal control unit was faulty. My bike is out of warranty but they got it done under a BMW good will option.:clap

Yet again they come up trumps as a service provider.;)
