Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if fixing the shorting battery lead will have cured it tbh.....just ride carefully![]()
Sorry . . But I can't see how shorting the EARTH cable will affect anything - its supposed to be touching the metal bits

Unless the real earth connection at the end of the cable is corroded and not making proper contact, in which case there might be some current surging as the unofficial connection makes contact.
I'd check all the wiring connections / earthing points and the rear light/brake light connections and then see how it behaves.
I once had the brakes stay on, on my '03 K1200 GT, but that was slightly different. I'd braked for a corner and then found that the front brakes wouldn't let go. I pulled in and let everything cool down (I'm not heavy on the brakes so they hadn't been overheating) and never had a problem again
