Anyone know of a source (besides BWM) for the retaining clip for the front caliper grub screw?

I seem to have lost one of mine somewhere and the dealer can only get it as part of a kit ( £14.83 +vat  )

engineers merchants...

Go to a proper engineer merchants and ask for an R pin.

Take the brake retaining pin with you for size. Probably give you a couple for 50p in the charity pot.

Any old motorcycle shop will do them as well probably a £1 a go though.

I've just typed in 'R pin' in Ebay and theres boxes of hundreds in various sizes for under a £5er

Ah, but it's not an R pin. The pin fits a groove in the screw, there is no hole.

And an 'R' pin will sit in the same groove equally well. I've got two on my front brakes and they're fine.

It's much like saying you can't put an 'R' pin in the back brake because the BMW one has a bent end !!!

It will grip the groove in the securing pin equally as well as the BMW part....

I've also used R pins no problems.
On the other hand the OEM BMW pad retaining pins do lose their plating and corrode so could be worth buying the kit
