From an RT Facebook page, apparently BMW do recognise there is a problem, but my German is not good enough to translate :)

Again from an RT forum, most complaints seem to be around the right hand calliper leaking

That German email basically says they are monitoring dealer feedback and so far only isolated incidences have been reported.

If the dealer reports the issue bmw will replace the problem parts with new callipers and continue to monitor the situation.

Yep as usual same old, hoping it will be an isolated incident, but seems not, hopefully they will sort it quick, as brakes are pretty useful at times.............:yikes:yikes:yikes:yikes

Might have seen you this morning, I was in to pick up my new GSA HP.

Didn't get the bike further than the front door. Engine warning message came up twice during the delivery process. Bike returned to the workshop, and me sent home with a demo.

Wife and kids waiting for me to return home with my nice shiney new 60th birthday present. Disappointed to say the least.

Can't fault Laura and the team at Motorad Central. There was not much more they could do.

After issues getting insurance for the bike (BMW Insurance withdrew cover 2 days ago because they had misquote" me), and now this, I'm hope that the bike isnt jinxed. :blast

Not nice when this happens but I can tell you when its sorted you will love it

In response to the bike not going out of the dealer upon collection, Was the message like this??

Yep something like that.

The dealer said that the problem was probably low voltage in the battery (was reading 11.4V) and that time spent showing me what the TFT could do, and the pairing of my phone, headset and Nav6, while the engine wasnt running probably didn't help.

When I called this afternoon, I was told that the bike was ready to be picked up (battery had been on charge). Collecting tomorrow. Fingers crossed that that was the problem?

Need to get a "piggy back" lead for the battery so I can stick my optimate 4 on if the bike is going to be sitting for any length of time.

PS. Noting that the +ve terminal of the battery is hidden in the depths of the bike, can I attach the +ve lead of the piggy back lead to the "jump start?" fixing located just to the right of the battery?

That is what I have done on my 1200 no problems at all

Sadly the Mother-ship have allowed their own moniker to be caste into the Yankee calipers, so there aint no hiding place. Whilst I haven't researched the RT forum, the source of the leak shown in post #22 is difficult to discern; well it is for me. Whether it's piston leaks, banjos, casting faults or over-torqued fixings I am not sure. Whatever, this is deeply concerning & all for the 'suits' to save a few Euros.

BTW, is the loaner a new old stock 800, or the new 850 I wonder?

How do you like the 800?

Not bad. Had the 800ST years ago and the 800gs which I toured Morocco with. Sweet engine, economical and a bit of fun, but no GS. I would rather have the 790KTM. now that’s fun

Yeah! Is this why they have no available parts in the UK? Have they used them all up? Who knows?

Glad to hear you are almost there. Enjoy!

Was going up to Dalkeith next week to test the r1250gsa and the f850gsa back to back, the way it is going they aren't going to have any demos left to lend out

As mentioned the other choice was Brembo's, on the RS they have had issues with contamination in the brake fluid, also air getting in, that's why they moved to the Hayes units, Brake fluid changes with Brembo' is expensive as lever slowly moves into bar and gets spongy, 6 of one and half a dozen,

You mean Hayes? I guess you have a lot of experience with them since you know the name and all...

If you bothered to read all the posts, rather than picking on my first one, you will see I corrected myself. I meant Hayes. Yes I have ridden Harleys with Hayes callipers for over 7 years and covered over 40k miles with them with no issues. My post was tongue in cheek due to the negative posts when it was discovered that BMW were going to use Hayes instead of Brembo. I have a 1250 arriving in 2 weeks and am not worried about the brakes.

I just traded my 16 plate RS for this GS. I had no probs with the RS whatsoever. I loved it but I wanted a do it all bike. Pretty pissed of to walk out the dealership with my RS sitting there looking pretty
