brand new BMW boxes corroding

Im not a fan of keyless ignition for bikes.

Having said that if there was a better luggage system that filled the other criteria Id be tempted if and when I replace the current steed.

you can ride through london without having your keys pinched out of the ignition is a plus

I totally agree but wasn't expecting them to be so bad after not even being a month old

fujack, mine were also badly pitted with them white spots. To make the task easier, use a palm sander (picked up one from Argos for £10). Replace the sanding pad with any good cotton or felt and use that to rub the alu polish in. Wipe off with any good clean cloth. Makes cleaning it a doddle.

Use any alu polish and they will stay like new. 'cmon give it some tlc and it will shine like mine

All you are doing - is removing the oxide, exposing more fresh Aluminium to corrode

Blackal, that is what I also thought would happen, but it seems that the polish does leave some kind of a coating and thereby drastically reducing the pitting. Clean once in a while and it stays such.
