i used to be part of a company , that were in the top 3 Guzzi dealers in the country , WE couldn't afford to stock the amount of bikes they wanted us to have.
we just didn't turn over, what they think we should have done. there isn't the markup to make a big profit on them , when you are selling 1-2 bikes a week ( on ave over the year ) .
you need to mark them up by a minimum £800 ( if you do your maths properly ) , and on the small blocks ( v85/v7) there isn't enough money to cover what it actually cost to put them on the road PROPERLY , so corners get cut. the only place to cut corners is with a very short/poor PDI .
we would sell at RRP or very close to , otherwise it wasn't worth selling. 2 dealers i know got caught out by a punter playing 1 against the other , he ended up with a bike that , was sold out of the crate , for £200 over cost .
Bike ended up in-front of me , at first service , with me doing the PDI effectively .
