Brands Indy Track Evening

Did a track evening on the Brands Indy circuit on Tuedsay. I was in the lower group to be with a less confident mate, but he couldn’t make it in the end - would normally be in the faster group.
The GS was brilliant and I was definitely in the faster 80% despite having the least appropriate bike and definitely the least appropriate tyres. I’ve never had so many people seek me out in the pits to congratulate me on my pace. I would have liked to leave the top box on for an extra wind up of the sports / race bike riders but this is not allowed.

Only got to 42deg of lean, so still have small chicken strips on the new rear.

I didn’t time, but I guess around 1 minute. I used to do 0:57s on my GSXR 750 but that was a while ago.

From the video it seems you are doing a similar time: 57/58 that is a decent pace.

I’m doing Indy (evening) on the 2nd… hopefully dry but not keeping my hopes up.

Loving the fact you’re out there enjoying the bike Andy, it’s always a hoot taking something different round circuits

Might want to hold back a tad on aspirations of being the next Marquez though

Christ, there is some shockingly bad riding going on in that group. Looks fun if you can avoid other people's terrible lines/crashes/etc.

When I had my old 1250GS on track, I found the biggest strength was outbraking people, the telelever setup gives you confidence to brake really hard where others are probably a bit concerned about managing fork dive to get their braking spot on.

i did 1.03's on the vfr400 they had at the school there .

No such aspirations. I didn't even start riding until I was 35 & at 61 I'm not getting much faster.

I did the GP circuit a couple of years ago. I failed scrutineering as my leathers didn't have a full length zip but luckily my mate who lived nearby got his wife to bring along his spare one piece. Haven't done a track day since, I'd like to do one on my Monster. It's always a blast and does the bike good. Engines always seem keener to spin up and brakes feel sharper after a track session

Enjoy the next outing, costs for the longer full circuits everywhere are getting a bit rich lately so enjoy them while you can
