This light comes on intermittently instead of flashing it remains illuminated, the bike has only done 400 miles and is due to go in for its first service within the next couple of weeks. The breaks appear to work fine so I’m presuming it’s a faulty sensor that can be sorted by the dealership when I take it in. Is this a known issue with GS’s? Or should I be more concerned? I know getting it sorted out won’t be a problem as I got it from Bahnstormer who are top notch.

Thanks

Tony

Dunno about the 1200, and due to the Canbus unlikely to be the same prob as afects the 1150 - but the 1150 is prone to corrosion around the rear bulb and this plays havoc with the ABS warning lights. If the rear light lens isn't watertight, and it sits in rain for a week...

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll give the dealership a tinkle just to be on the safe side.

Just make sure the handguard isn't touching the end of the brake lever, its very easy to lean on the guards and move them.

The same problem effects the clutch side as well, causing clutch slip. Eventually you get into the habit of just flicking the levers forward to check for freeplay

My bike will display brake failure every other time I start it. Brakes work fine (possibly no sevo assistance to rear brake) but speedo doesn't work. Switch off and on again and everything is fine. This is not the same problem as hand gaurds touching levers etc as that leaves the brakes with no servo. Just an annoying fault that hopefully will be sorted at the next service

Even if you get a brake failure warning light, it will appear that the rear light is still working as the ECU uses the tail lamp filament to simulate a brake light. This is a common fault on older 1200's whereby the rear lamp contacts corrode as they're open to spray from the rear tyre.

Just report it to the dealer. It should be registered in the ECU as a fault anyhow.

As ever thanks for the helpful replies, the bike is booked in for it's first service next week and they said they'll take a look, also I have a problem with my alarm being that it won't arm when pressing the button from any distance at all, sometimes you have to hold the fob up against the sensor to make it work. Apart from that what a machine! just love it.

You learn something every day, I'll get my alarm book out and have a read, you're a good man.

Thanks

Tony :)
