A GS owner I know has a 05 1200GS, this guy is a very experianced off roader and has taken other older GS's to Mongolia, Tibet and China. Recently whil touring Thailand he lost his brakes while on a fast down hill stretch of road, lost control crashed and had 5000 quids worth of hospital bills for injuries to his hands. Cause of the problem was the pump for the servo. Any others with this problem?

Do a search of this subject here and the the American site http://www.advrider.com and you will find loads of stuff about problems with the servo/abs brakes - accidents seem to be very rare, but reported problems are common.

Never had a problem myself, but I have Luddite brakes!

Thanks guys, I'll pass this info to my friend. He's still unable to use his fingers in one hand.... frankley if I read all the different problems the 1200 has then I'm surprised they sell as they do. Mines new, no problems so far.. touch wood.
