:nenau  :nenau how do you change the rear break pads when the bolts holding the hugger are seized they are not allen bolts??

Try to hammer in the next larger sized Torx and pray. :D you may be lucky. Try to spray some Diesel fuel in and leave for a couple days first. Yup its Easter and the weather is so good and you want to get out and ride but your Fecked. So tear off the hugger, stuff the rear pads, they can wait. Now go get some miles in. :thumb

The quickest way is to drill the heads off the bolts mounting the hugger. You can then remove the caliper mounting bolts, replace the pads and ride the bike leaving the hugger off for the time being.

To refit the hugger you have 3 options i) The easy method is to order some new caliper and hugger mounting bolts from the hugger manufacturer and when refitting them make sure there's plenty of copperslip on the hugger mounting bolts ii) Remove the caliper bolts at a later date drill out the seized bolts, re tap the holes and source some new bolts. iii) As per option ii but drill the hugger mounting bolts leaving some material left on the offending bolt then use a stud extractor to remove.

Personally, as the hugger mounting bolts are quire small, I'd go for option i and if you haven't got a stud extractor would probably be the cheapest especially if you lay it on with the hugger manufacturer about the fact that their fasteners have seized causing you all this grief you may get some foc replacements.

Just be carefull if your going to use those 'easy out stud extractors', if that snaps in the stud, then your fecked

Is it the small allan bolts that hold on the hugger? If so it's not usually the thread thats sezed but the part that sits in the cup washer. Try a sharp tap on the head (of the bolt  ) the try again, or use a dot/center punch in the joint between the bolt and washer and gently tap in anticlock direction. If you end up drilling use as big a drill as poss and take the head off the bolt, you may find the threaded part will just undo with your fingers then. Good luck.
