Hi All

This may seem a very stupid question, but it's in me nature!

Just Got back from France, Got stuck there with severly seized brake calipers. BMW garage replaced the pistons. All working fine, 750 miles trouble free, apart from rain.

Just checked the bike over when i got back and noticed they have left the black discs in the centers of the brake pistons? Do I need to remove these or is this how they are now, previous ones were just as cups.

Again appologies if this is a stupid question.

cheers

joe

I've recently replaced a brembo piston, and I guess the thing you are speaking about is the plastic spacer between the metal piston and the brake pad. That is actually part of the piston and cannot be removed. It's probably there to prevent over-heating of the caliper.
Hope it helps

HI

That is a relief, just thought it may have been a french service tech having a laugh.

Cheers Carbold,
