Brembo Brakes.

Lads I have a BMW GS 1150 which has brembo brakes fitted.

I'm new to BMW ownership don't know much about them and haven't seen any of the other bikes I looked at with the Brembo brake caliper fitted.

Are they a standard part or would they have been fitted aftermarket. Just wondering when the time comes to replace the pads what pad would be needed.

Brembo standard on the 1100 and 1150 up till 2001/02.

It depends what you mean by Brembo Calipers.

If my memory is correct, 1150 GSes up to 2001 had BMW stamped on them although they were Brembo. From 2002 onwards the calipers changed for the evo brakes (and servo if you have abs in 2003) and had Brembo printed on the side.

Brembo's overran the intro of the 1150's and then were replced by the "BMW" calipers. The calipers can be one of 3 I think (rusty memory) on the 1150's due to the intro of the "BMW" calipers and then Integral brakes. Same pads as 1100.

I've used the Frodo Platinum and his disks for a long while, very good.

My Nov 03 bike says BMW on the outside of the calipers and Brembo on the inside.
