Just out of curiosity who has galfer disks and who has brembos on their 1190
They are different in different brochures
I have galfers on my adv and they are proper shit quality , along with most of the nuts and bolts , but the disks are shocking and impossible to keep clean without a real lot of fucking about after every ride.
If you commute and use the bike every day it isn't going to happen.
Just wondered if anyone else had the same issue.
The bike has done 2000 miles and is garaged and kept pretty clean ( no difference than all my other bikes)
Used acf 50 and never cheap cleaning stuff
Should I consider taking the fucking thing back because of poor quality disks , spoke nipples , nuts bolts.
14 k is a lot of dosh so the fact they've thrown on a lot of cheap shit bits is a bit of shitter
Your thoughts please ?

If it was a new water cooled gs and you had posted this kind of blasphemy the wc liberation front would be paying you a visit and you would be banned from ever posting again on the forum.
If your dealer is any good they should pursue a warranty claim regarding the corrosion, have you contacted them yet

I'm quiet shocked about the amount of corrosion on the spoke nipples. It's not like it's a new thing to KTM. They were corroding on the older bikes over 10 years ago. It goes for the fasteners as well.. Why don't the big bike companies get their act together. It's small things like this that put people of the brand. BMW included with their poor finish on the new GS... Sorry, spit, cough. They could add another £20 to the sale price and irradiate these small niggles... Which in the car park com pairing bikes KTM/GS. Where finish is everything...

7 months and 1900 Mls in on my 1190R and no corrosion at all, anywhere. Never polished it, just wash it with Castrol Greentech. Not sure which discs are fitted as I can't see any branding on them.

BTW, I do know what corrosion looks like, I ran a BMW for 12 mths before I got the 1190. The main reason for dumping the BMW was corrosion everywhere ! I also had a 5 year old SM 990, again no corrosion.

Galfer discs on mine. Only had chance to do 3500 miles in 9 months - not daily commuting and only been out on really salty roads 1/2 dozen or so times but no problems or rust so far. Longest it's left without a clean is a weak or so but mostly washed within day or so of riding.
Your discs and spoke nipples seem a world apart from mine so either a particularly bad batch or they use some seriously strong road treatments round your way.
At least I know now that regular cleaning is the way to go even if it is a pain in the arse. :thumb

Let us know what they say about sorting it under warranty if you go that route.

will do its going back for a handful of recalls and to get the MSC fitted next week
