I know this guy has been plugged on this site before (that's where I heard of him) but reliable independent specialist BMW motorcycle mechanics are thin on the ground.

I visited him yesterday to get some tyres fitted. Simple job maybe but carried out as if it was his bike, answered all my stupid questions and gave my bike a once over and all for the same price I'd have paid at a tyre depot!

He may not be cheaper than the main dealers(not sure of his rates) but i know where my bike is going for it's next service.

He's busy as hell at the moment - three gearbox rebuilds (now what does that say?). But he still found time to check out my bike on Saturday, 'cos it had been running rough. Checked for faults on the computer (using a whizzy Blootooth jobbie), and checked all the major systems - in about 10 minutes. Even checked to make sure there wasn't a starling up the air intake ('cos he's had one!). In the end, no major problems, but a change of plugs did help and I've gone away with a replacement fuel filter to fit when the tank gets low.

I paid for the plugs and filter and he charged me ... well I can't tell you, 'cos you muight think he works for free! Enough to say that he's getting my business for the next (and future) services.

And that is a garage to die for...
