What sort of mileage are you guys getting out of your Bridgestone A41 Tyres on a 1250 GSA?
Tyres are a bit like fuel tanks, the second half always goes faster than than the first.
The average mileage from a set of tyres is 4-5000mls. Just change them and put it down to part of the holiday costs.
If you are travelling through Germany the legal tread depth is 3mm, and yes they will fine you for anything less, and in some cases stop you from travelling further till you replace the tyre.
If you are changing the tyres early by 20% it is only £50.00, set off on a nice new set and be happy, dont be tight and just change the rear, not worth it.

2850 miles on my 1250 GSA and rear about half worn and front still loads on. Just not certain what to do as in August going on 2850 mile European trip and bike will by then have around 3500 miles on current tyres before setting of on trip.
Measured mine at 4mm front and 8mm rear when new. Went on to get uniform wear across front profile to less than 1mm with 4mm left on rear, which didn’t square off.Does anyone happen to know the tread depth of a new A41 front? Sometimes the manufactures put in in the spec page of their web site, but I can't find it.

Just under 1K miles on mine now and no appreciable wear noticed. One thing I have noticed, is unlike some tyres, you can reach the edge of the grip on the rear with relative ease. No chicken strips left on my rear tyre. I don't know if this is because the tyre tread doesn't go as far round as some profiles or whether it's just down the confidence they give on corners. I suspect it's the former as I've ridden them off the tread a few times only to get the warning quick kick out at the rear but this is not really a concern because both times the angles of lean were pretty extreme and likely more extreme than you'd ever chance loaded up or 2-up. The more mileage I put on them, the more confidence I have in them, wet or dry. Front tyre didn't seem too noisy until I put a fender extender on the front, and now the road noise is channelled up much louder and is quite noticeable. This may be the contributing resonance of the fender extender though.
After our Austria trip I can definitely say the front wears quicker than the rear. So instead of 2 rear to a front it’s the other way round

Looks like my rear will outlast the Front.
