The OE tyres that came on my GS TE 1250 were ok for about 4,500 miles. After the front let go a couple of time I rode back to check the surface for any contributing reasons and there weren’t any. Today after another occurrence, and on checking the front I appear to have a very pronounced V shape with more wear on one side than the other :nenau
I’ve been riding for over 30 years and only experienced this type of wear on soft /medium compound tyres on track/race bikes.
Anyone else experienced this? They’re going anyway with the bike and my next bike (GSA) will have the A41’s removed and replaced with better hoops before it leaves the showroom. Don’t trust these at all. Hopefully the images portray the wear I’m trying to explain.

The top image is of the rear which is beginning to flatten out but otherwise ok.

Yes that’s what they do my front lasted 3k but unlike other people I loved them rain or dry others hate them very strange

My front was shot well before the rear. Liked them when new, but they went off around 3000 miles. Front never gave me much confidence in the dry or wet.

Hi
I've put on a previous thread about the A41's which came on my new 1250 in May as OEM tyres
In all fairness I liked them, they were grippy enough in dry and wet but they did wear funny. Edges of front were down before centre to the wear bars
Front was done at 3900 mile. There was quite a lot of tread on rear but I got a 4/5mm deep cut in rear so that went too
First time I have had a front wear out faster than the rear - The guy fitting the new ones said he'd had a few come in with same thing
Had a pair of Michelin Road 5 Trails fitted last Friday only managed 60 miles since and they feel fine
Had previously had Michelin RS, Power Pures and that line since 2009 with a the exception of OEM tyres and Metzler M9RR's
Kept coming back to the Michelins
No off-roading for me, unless unintentional

New tyres....Yayy

Front tyre x 2
Rear tyre with cut

You will always get more wear on the right hand side of the front due to the camber and higher corner speeds of right hand turns, but it does seem to show more on the a41's. maybe its the softer compound??

Both sides of my front tyre same wear pattern and rate
I think you are right, the A41 has a very soft front edge compound

More speed more power, less life for tyre, why 1250 use more tyre than 1200, maybe rake value.

Hey HGS, I’ll be interested to hear how you get on with the Michelin Road 5 Trails. Sounds like we have similar experiences.

Thanks for the responses so far guys - very interesting

I’m now considering leaving the 41’s on the new bike, use them until they’re done and then swap them Michelin’s or Metz’s :green gri

I'm interested. Why would right hand corners be quicker?

Btw, like you, I rate the CTA3s. I know you're using way more of the tyre than me, but for the long distance riding I've been doing lately, I'm also v impressed with them. Very slow to square off. 4th Italian trip approaching and on the same set of tyres, I hope

If your riding on the left its two fold, the corner is a greater radius than a left hander, and you have better vision through the turn, but the camber acts against the tyres so wearing them quicker.

Ahhhhh. I didn't pause to think of the radius change. That explains the most to me . I guess the camber varies sufficiently to make that highly variable.
