Bridgestones for my baby

There seems to be a world shortage of the almost mythical BT020s for the 1150. I cant seem to find a pair anywhere.

Anyone got a secret source of tyres they would like to share with me? Or am I wasting my time looking for them? The bike is never going to go off road, so thought I might as well go with what I know and the 020 has treated me well in the past!

that could explain it, but when i last checked the bridgestone site, they didnt have the fitment in an 021 for the 1150GS.

AFAIK they don't do a 19" front in the 021 yet.

I've just finished off a pair of Battlewings which use the same carcass as 020's and to be honest they felt pretty much identical so may be worth trying

hmm. i'm looking for a road tyre, knobbly bits give me the wobblies, and as the beast isnt going offroad I just wanted the stickiest I could get. I might have a hunt around and see if the battlewings will cut it.

Try Michelin Pilot Roads, with the new ones coming out the originals can be bought for £150 a pair

Okay, a few more words.
Metzeler Tourance. I'd call them 70 to 80% road tyres.
I love them and wouldn't think of anything else for my GS
Also had them on another bike, but I won't mention anymore on that.

Had an 020 front replaced literally only two weeks ago, no mention of any supply problems by the Dealer.

I've always had Tourances on my bike. though this year I fancied something a bit different; so put on a pair of 020s and have to say the bike is transformed and a LOT MORE FUN... I think, though Tourances are great tyres they really do confirm the old stereotypes about BMWs - being bland and uninteresting - whereas the 020s completely trash em. in comparison they are super sticky, much quieter and the way the bike now corners is a revelation.

I had battlewings on my 1999 GS. They are excellent in all respects.
I am using up a set of heidenaus that I have had in the garage for a year. They are knobblies but also surprisingly very good - They are the second set of heidenaus I have used. I think they are better than TKCs but they do make a turbine whining noise.
I digress through. I will be putting battlewings on again as I do not do anything more than a slightly rough track now and again.

P and R tyres in Liverpool offered a pair of BT020s for 235 (lots), but found a pair of Michelin road pilots fitted for £200 so just waiting for them to reappear after mallory BSB weekend and they're hopefully fitted!

I had them Bridgestone tyres on my Capo back in '05 when I went for a 5k ride round Europe. my mate with me had them on his 1150 GS.

We both found the slowed down the steering, felt unreliable somehow and wore at about twice the rate of the Tourances we usually use. I'd not put anything other than Tourances on my GS.

I've just had my third set of Continental TrailAttacks fitted, they are more road biased than the Tourances and I found the difference in handling to be huge, the bike tips in to corners quicker and is much easier to lean over. The wet weather grip is excellent too. Plus I'm gettting between 10k and 12k miles from the rear

I have used 020's for the past couple of years...no complaints about them. However recently as I was unable to track down any GS sized 020's I fitted Conti Trail Attacks. They are very good, plenty of grip and feedback, cost £164 (loose wheels) fitted and balanced by TST Tyres, at Risley, near Warrington.

road pilots being fitted tomorrow - will see how they fair - lots of people rate the 020s, so would have gone for them if i wasnt going to isle of man on friday for a weekend on the bike!

I have the road pilots fitted to my Tiger 1050 as OEM tyres, they are OK, just covered about 5.5k on them, about another 1k max left in them. Will be replacing them very soon with the new Dunlop Roadsmart, £185 fitted and balanced TST tyres (loose wheels)
