+1 I personally think it's really poorly finished at the back. Looks like particularly grotty 1970s vac-formed ABS.

Gotta agree,never ceases to amaze me what crap people will put on an expensive bike. Half the stuff is badly made ,crap fixings & a pain in the ass when you need to take it off for service.

Sorry taken so long but finally managed a short test ride of the Britannia Mirage screen/fairing
Only 30 miles so early days but compared to the other screens I’ve ridden with, that’s the O/E, MRA Vario and Wuderlich Ergo Vario the Britannia is the best
Ian “Britannia” told me that for someone around 6’ put the screen down a few cm’s from highest setting, I didn’t
and at maximum height there was very slight buffeting, dropped it a few cm’s and buffeting disappeared and very little wind noise/turbulence So then dropped screen to lowest position, almost froze to death within a mile or so 
That’ll be great for a hot summer ride then should we get one Ok, all screen tests are subjective but as I said so far this is the one for me and I’ve only tried a couple of settings
Must get around to fitting the Zumo

They are an expensive item and I would prefer to get eyes on before parting with my money

FYI Adventure Spec are no longer stocking these, you need to get them from the manufacturer in Canada.
I'm gonna take the plunge and order 1 so when I've fitted it anyone who wants to take a look is more than welcome. I'm hoping to save money going down this route rather than buying a handful of screens that don't work for me!!!

A bit like the TT Desierto F fairing but without the tinted bit and wrap around the sides here creating a cockpit.
I have the TT i may paint the black fairing bit but unsure at the moment maybe I will just photo shop it first to save me painting it Azure blue then back to black
You can spec a tinted screen with the Mirage as well. Ian, the owner is discounting postage to the UK to off set the fleecing we get by HM Customs.
So 505CAD, about £315 posted. Even with VAT and import duty that's a lot cheaper than TT and someone actually answers your emails promptly!!!

Yes, it's arrived. fitted last week, which takes 20 mins as stated. Still not sure of the looks, depends on the angle you view it from but it is well made and could easily pass as a factory fitted option.
Makes a considerable difference to comfort at speed, 100mph+ with visor up without undue handling problems, there is some buffeting at that speed but it's bearable. Dropping to legal speeds you can adjust the height (easily) on the move to find your sweet spot. I still get a bit of disturbed air around the shoulders but no head shaking but at the end of the day if you want to dial all the moving air out you need a Goldwing, not a F8!
I got stung £90 with the taxes so just over 400 quid all in, cheaper than adv spec were selling them. Worth it? For me yes, I've had bikes with electric screens in the past and missed the ability to adjust the screen to suit speed and riding conditions (I hate looking through a screen in town, especially in the wet)
I could easily spend more than that buying fixed screens trying to find the one that does it all.
A couple of niggles are on mine the holes to mount the clocks are slightly askew, easily fixed with a bit of filing, and the brake hose that crosses the headstock is pulled tight on right lock.
Ian, the owner is great to deal with and is aware of the problem with the brake line and is looking at a solution. I'm not too concerned at the moment but have a couple of possible solutions.
I can do some photos if you want but there are plenty on the web, I'm near Bromley if you want to see it in the flesh.

That's me! One day, when i feel like a good cry, i shall work out how much i've spent on screens and still ended up with tinnitus!
At the moment i'm sourcing a Madstad screen through HPS. Guesstimates at £260 but this is to be confirmed next week. If this doesn't work then the next one shall be the Mirage.
Asides the hundred or so quid price difference, I'm liking the Madstad because it doesn't raise the cockpit like the Mirage and so maintains the overall look of the bike. If i was sporting some serious ally panniers i think it may balance out but i'm a fan of soft luggage and travelling light. My ideal screen would have the styling of a Mirage/Desierto but with the black cockpit part at half the height.
Thank you for the kind offer of a look - if the Madstad fails me then i shall certainly be in touch to see a Mirage in the flesh before pulling that trigger.

So, anyone got one?
I've tried a load of screens (standard, Metal Mule, butchered R1200GS, Wunderlich Vario, Wunderlich spoiler) and have yet to find an acceptable compromise between low noise, zero buffeting and reasonable wind protection. I LOVE the standard screen for it's low noise and clean air but it makes my neck ache on motorway journeys, and it's hopeless for shoulder checks with a peaked lid. I love every aspect of my F8 except for this issue with the screen.
I don't particularly like the look of the BC Fairing but if it offers what I am seeking then I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Anyone living in the South of the UK like to lend me theirs for a few hours before I shell out for one? Failing that, would an owner like to list the pros and cons for me?

Easy to fit and whilst I see what you mean about looks, once on it looks like a OEM item.

I tried the California Scientific first, and it was much better than the standard screen, but it really was ugly, wasn't adjustable and just wasn't quite right.
I've had the Brittania Composites screen for the last 10,000 km and I'm very happy with it.
It looks much better in reality than it does in the photo's. Here's a group of 800,s in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia (taken with an iphone) ... mine is on the left, and I don't think it looks too bad. The latest model also has a new screen which does look better.
I think any Adventure bike screen should be adjustable. I run the screen right up on the highway ... on this ride I had the screen down for a while on a highway and the "wash" from the semi's and road trains was pretty bad. I put the screen up, and it was much better. I usually put it right down off road so it doesn't get in the way ... feels much better.
It's fairly quiet for me on the road, and there was one unexpected benefit. while riding with the 800's above as well as another two at the same speed on the same roads I always got better fuel consumption than any of the others. I guess that the aerodynamics are just that bit better with the BC fairing.
The last advantage is that you get the dashboard with the relocated instruments and room for a GPS and other stuff. Works really well. Another photo from South Lake Eyre ... you can see my Garmin Montana mounted on the dash.
