I read on here that booking a hotel via BF can generate a discount. I’ve booked the crossing now- how do I find an eligible hotel and add it to the booking, and how does the discount thing work?

Just booking up for the second part of our Templars and Castles trip. A couple of years ago we covered most of the sites in eastern and central Spain, and now we’re going to look at the coupe we missed in north west and Portugal. There’s actually lots more in Portugal, since when the Pope took against them in a Portugal they changed their name and carried on.

Anyway. Price of the ferries! £1550 for 2 people and 2 bikes, flex fare at the offer rate and including my Club Voyage discount. And it seems there’s now only 2 sailings a week, I’m sure their used to be more.

I have picked my hotels min 3 nights and crossing and then called the holiday line. Total price then includes the saving.

click map view to see the location of the hotels, lots of changes this year with more apartments added

once you have your hotel, ring them. You can only add hotels by phone.

Plymouth has only had 2 sailings a week, Wed & Sun for some time. More sailing from Portsmouth to Bilbao and Santander

Thanks! Looks like like there’s 2 a week from Portsmouth- Santander only, I was sure there used to be 3. Maybe it changed when it turned into a 2 night crossing.

there used to be an Economie service on the Etretat or Baie de Seine. That was binned when the e-flexers came online. These boosted the Cap F/Pont Aven sailings each week in the peak season.

I came home from Santander on the Baie in 2019 and was booked on Etretat in 2020 but that was postponed due to C19. By 2022 when I had rescheduled the Economie Service was cancelled and Galicia was in service. I only use Plymouth now due to the shorter sailings and friendlier departure/arrival times for someone living in Mid Wales.

The terms and conditions of travel change when you add hotels to your booking. Basically you then have booked a package tour and the ABTA/ATOL type t&c’s now apply. You have less flexibility than you had previously when the terms of carriage only applied.

The main change iirc is around flexibility for changes you or they may need to make to your travel as it involves not only a change of ferry but also hotels.

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks!

Any idea of how much discount this generates please? I'm looking at 2027 and a third party website called Ferries Direct offers quite a bit off compared to BB. Or is the discount on the accommodation?

be careful using a 3rd party website to book a ferry - they are not great at compensating you if there is a delay which is always a risk if booking a ferry across the Bay of Biscay.

booking direct you get the statutory protection from Brittany Ferries and they are pretty good at paying out, as I discovered after a long delay due to a mechanical problem affecting Pont Aven.

As for booking the trip as a holiday with hotels, the discount is 30% off the base ferry price. This is not on any cabin costs. Also factor in the hotel booking via BF usually includes a hotel breakfast, which most hotels charge extra for now when you book via Expedia etc.

As soon as sailings are released you can get a decent discount with BF with the early bird offers.Just register with them and they'll send the offers to you direct.

the 2027 timetable is already online, arrived in April, 3 months earlier than usual
the times for the Plymouth to Santander route have been changed. The 11am arrival back in Plymouth has gone, now 1545 on a Tuesday or 1730 on Thursday.
