I will miss the Le Havre route. We have used the overnight service twice in the last year when coming home. The 915pm sailing from Le Havre, arriving in Portsmouth between 7-9am, depending on the day of the week, suited us with a 4 hour ride home from Portsmouth. Have a nice ride in the day, stop somewhere for dinner and get to the port for 8pm and a nightcap on the ferry.
I did notice that there were not many on the ferries last September and last month so maybe it is not viable if those two trips were representative of the typical use. Last month, when my 2 friends and I went to the bar, we were the only ones in there until a couple came in with a child a bit later.
Weirdly, I was only checking the timetable for next year and saw the Le Havre sailing listed until Oct 2027 so this must have been a fairly recent decision. We will have to use the service from Caen now but that does not depart until 1130pm so a bit of hanging around after getting dinner somewhere.

‘scuse my ignorance, I haven’t sailed anywhere for a few years, but what are the options now , South of UK to France?

We went Poole/Cherbourg 3 weeks ago in the campervan. I thought it was an excellent route. We slept in the van on the check-in area in Poole the night before our 8.30am ferry. Toilets showers and a cafe. Very informal and relaxed check in too. We liked Cherbourg too. We promised ourselves we’d do the route again before too long.
