Broken Ctrl keys

Just dusted off an old laptop for an upcoming trip (took a lot of Windows updates to bring it up to date! ) Everything is pretty much ok except for both Ctrl keys aren't working. I could understand one, but to have both not work and every other key be fine seems more like a software issue rather than a hardware failure...#

Anyone got any ideas?

Check the keyboard is set to UK (not US or other) in the Control Panel.

Thanks chap - I tried that and still no luck :-(

I tried the accessibility keyboard and an external keyboard and the Ctrl worked on them so can only assume that it is in fact a very weird hardware failure
