Stuck on Regent St - revs just going straight to 8.5k+, no throttle control. Any ideas?

can you see if the throttle cables are seated properly in the throttle bodies?

Throttle cable splitter box ?
try to roll the thorttle back and let go and you should be able to hear the throttle close in the throttle body
or look under the throttle body and this should move

if this is moving on the both sides wen u turning the throttle and the engine is not responding call the AA

Thanks all for your help and suggestions last night. Problem turned out to be more basic than the above suggestions - %@*±ing plastic carrier bag stuck in the left hand throttle body! Thank god had not yet made its way into the cylinder head although was clearly on its way.
Anyway, a new air filter latter and back up and running.

Am told that the 'force' in, the air intake having been blocked, would have been sufficient to draw the bag past the rim of the air filter and so on down to the controller. The frame of the air filter was cracked suggesting it had been pulled / forced out of place - we live and we learn!

You know you'll only upset me if u r telling me I can't now believe everything I'm told by my local friendly BM dealership (PL)!!
I did see the controller removed with the bag hanging out each end so their explanation seemed plausible - couldn't honestly think how else it could have got there?

Or it was put in to protect the throttle body while filter was removed and forgotten when new filter was put in.

What a load of bollocks, if a carrier bag could get "sucked past" the air filter
surely normal air would also and bypass the filter completely. The problem is defenately not being removed during a service!!.

I have come across a couple of badly fitted filters where the filter had got pulled inside the main airbox housing at maybe a corner

From what I have seen and had to fix I think it's possible

Boirche's was one that springs to mind Mind you his Air filter looked like it had done the sahara TWICE!
