Having almost completed a 12,000 mile trek to Alaska with out incident, my 1100 GS knifed into some hot pavement at the end of a long hot day. The right side mirror hit a pickup truck parked a little too close on the left and twisted off at the base. The base as it turns out is integral with the master cylinder and costs about $250 US.
So before I fork over the money,I am considering affixing a female thread with metalized epoxy, but don't think it will tolerate the weight and vibration.
I've also thought about a bar end mirror but with the wide handelbars fear I won't be able to focus my bifocal assisted vision on them, or I'll constantly be bashing them into things.
Anybody got a fix that worked?
