Having almost completed a 12,000 mile trek to Alaska with out incident, my 1100 GS knifed into some hot pavement at the end of a long hot day. The right side mirror hit a pickup truck parked a little too close on the left and twisted off at the base. The base as it turns out is integral with the master cylinder and costs about $250 US.

So before I fork over the money,I am considering affixing a female thread with metalized epoxy, but don't think it will tolerate the weight and vibration.

I've also thought about a bar end mirror but with the wide handelbars fear I won't be able to focus my bifocal assisted vision on them, or I'll constantly be bashing them into things.

Anybody got a fix that worked?

You could look for a mirror from a different model of bike, that has a clamp that is separate from the master cylinder. Then attach that clamp to the handlebars left of the master cylinder. If there's not enough room, hacksaw off the now useless part of the master cylinder (but obviously be careful!).

Maybe browse a local bike dealer for a model of bike that has a suitable mirror? Or ask for a generic "fits all" part if they exist.

Just an idea, hope you get it sorted out.
