Hi guys.

I had a bit of a coming together with the side of a mates pannier last year (Don't ask...:augie) and bashed the side of my Vario.

Unfortunately it's cracked around the tab that holds it on the side of the bike and slots into the bracket on the side of the bike.

I've tried plastic welding but that didn't seem to do much. Short of buying a new pannier is there anywhere you know where I can buy just the back panel for one or somebody who repairs them? I know it's a longshot but if you don't ask...

Here's what i did.

precision laser cut billet metal stuff:augie

bent to precise degree of angle, three cnc drilled holes and 3 NASA type screws to secure.

Dose it rock I hear you ask, I think so:D

I did try glues but that didn't work, found a piece of galvanized metal in the shed and hacked it to size, then bashed it with a hammer until the angle looked right.

It works:aidan

Thanks to Nice'n'fat, a brother of this parish, I purchased a new rear casing for my knackered Vario from my local BMW dealer for the sum total of £53.00 and have successfully repaired it to as new condition.

It's not exactly rocket science but I've taken some piccies of the whole disassembly and reassembly process should anyone be in the same boat and will post them shortly.

It's certainly cheaper than buying a new pannier!:thumb2
