Tubeless on my G-Line, they come with tubes, but are sealed rims and all you need to do is whip the tubes out, add some Stans, and you are ready to go.

Battery does not interfere with stability at all, the 20" rims and fairly fat tyres dial any instability out, it actually handles pretty well, goes where you point it, grips well and handles well (Jesus I sound like I own a Triple black rallye denali touratech edition GSA now )

I've got the handlebar remote fitted to, so there's a short burst "Turbo" mode you can access using that for a quick getaway from congested junctions if you need it to.

I’ve now explored the knobbly tyre options for 20” wheels and been pleasantly surprised at the good choice available. Same make as the tyres that come standard with the bike. Schwalbe.
I need to get to a few bike shops that supply the few options I like now.

I have now ridden the 20” wheeled G-electric.

What would I say?

1. It is very much more stable over rough ground than the smaller wheeled bike.

2. If someone plans to be only riding along the flat or on smooth roads / paths, the original Brompton is perfectly fine.

3. If you plan to use the bike regularly (that’s the important word) on gravel, broken surfaces and long stretches of footpaths with grass growing up the middle, then the 20” wheel does the job.

4. If you won’t be doing either and / or don’t need the folding quality, then a regular style of bike is a very good (maybe even, better) alternative, either way.

Visited the factory for work a couple of years ago and it was good to see bending, welding, assembly etc. going on rather than importing from China.
Hope it is still the same.

My other half is looking to buy a G Line electric to take away when we stay away in the Peaks or Lake District to get about on. I've got an old M3L Brompton which I occasionally use, but do find it twitchy generally to ride. I'm quite happy to take one of my road bikes when we go away and can easily put one inside my estate if I take the front wheel off. I would struggle to get Sues Kalkoff ebike inside the car and thats why she is considering a Brompton.
I believe that the G line comes in 3 sizes. How do these compare with the standard folding one size fits all Brompton?

There was only one size before these three sizes and the different bars were the option - are they still offered with three bar sizes?

Thanks for that.
We popped into Evan’s Cycles in Burton today and they looked at what sizes were available for the G line. The staff said some were available in S M L and some other variants were in S L only. Just wondered if anyone had any real experience of the size variations.

I would if there was a local bike shop that sold them all! Evan’s stocked mainly the cheaper basic Brompton and told us they would order specific ones in if we bought one. We may need to spread our search further afield!

I was in the Brompton store in Covent Garden this afternoon. It’s probably no great help to you, but they have just about all the colours in all the sizes.

That said, if you called them, they might well be able to talk you through the options.
