My Dearest Brunhilde,

When we first met, Oooooooo back in April 2010, I wasn't too sure how our relationship would fare. You were, well, sorry to say this old girl, but you were a bit lumpy and bumpy, you weighed a flippin' tonne and you were from a far far away place compared to my silky smooth Japanese girlfriend.

But you my dearest friend, will always have a very special place in my memories. Your contribution to my life in the last three years has gone beyond the pale and I thank you with all my heart.

You have taken me all over Europe;

You've safely taken me round cities and their infamous ring roads;

We've shared adventures in far flung places

And you'be been an absolute joy to take off road :clap

and of course, for a big old bird, you've hustled it on road and have done yourself proud.

You even whisked me off to get engaged you sly old tinker ..

And so tonight old girl, you took us on our last ever two up trip - and as always you did your magic on a typical midweek jaunt (to the pub :D) that sums up your love of life and your laissez faire approach in an increasingly stressful world.

And what did you do on the way home after a pint of Shep Neame and a white wine ??

You went down a muddy byway two up in yer RoadSmarts yer daft old bint :rolleyes:

As we hit our homeward stretch, we posed for one last playful photo - the irony not lost on me as we watched the sun setting on a beautiful evening.

And so it is Brunhilde, that I wish you the very very best of luck with you new owner, and I hope and pray that he bonds with you, and has all the fun, laughter and tears that you have given me in our relatively short time together.

Thank you old girl ... Thank you so so, so very much and I promise with all my heart that you'll never be forgotten :tears

Aw bless. Watcha gettin next mista? :nenau

My old 1200 just read this tale of treachery, shuffled back in the garage and is currently hiding under a duvet.

Nice epilogue though.:clap

At times I was not sure if you were talking about your motorbike or your wife.
But I am sure you will strike up a good friendship with the replacement for your bike/wife.

And BIG respect to you and Brunhilde for getting airborne, off-road, between those trees:eek:. They not too forgiving if you hit them, so excellent piloting skills and a well directed mount (so to speak..). Sounds like you'll miss each other.:tears

It is sad ! I sort of feel really guilty :blast

All my Jap bikes have just been metal and plastic. There's never been a real 'bond' if you can call it that.

But this bike ... it's almost like a relationship :rolleyes: (In fact better probably - 'cos she doesn't talk back .. :P).

Hey ho .. life goes on.

Some of you may have read the ongoing debate in the wasserhead section about 'pointless electronics' which has sort of evolved into a debate about 'getting' the GS or not.

Whilst I am trading it in for a new GS, and whilst I am of course looking forward to its sportier nature, I completely 'get' what the old GS (even the 1150's that i've never even ridden) is all about.

I've defended the LC in all the 'it's lost its soul' arguments, and I have no doubt we'll have adventures a-plenty and some great trips, so I might take the piss out of the likes of JB and Flipfly, but the reality is, I know exactly where you're both coming from :thumb

(Oh Gawd ... what have I done .... :eek ..... )

:D

Just been downstairs and patted mine on the seat and said "don't worry old girl, I'm not like that Giles fellow, chucking you on the scrap heap for some supermodel"
:D

This (new) one's for keeps ... ;)
