Brymor Ice Cream saved

That is great news! Brymor is one of my favourite ice cream manufacturers!

Brymor is THE best cream makers Bob, not one of the best :thumby:

The local shop in Pateley Bridge opposite the car park is the cheapest place for one :beerjug:

You are probably right there Steve. I didn't know about the Pateley Bridge one, I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

I only discovered it last summer, but I prefer paying £1.70 for a double scoop than £2.70 at Helmsley, Reeth or the Brymor dairy, even though they only have half a dozen flavours to choose from :D

Yorkshire Ice Cream

I always liked "Yorkshire Ice Cream" which used to be made in Keighley. A few years ago, I understand they had a fire and went out of production. I used to buy it from Morrisons. Anyone able to confirm my thoughts? RobA.

Famous for "delicious ice cream produced using milk from the herd of pedigree Guernsey cows that graze the lush pastures"

Problem is the cows ain't there any more. Unless they have bought (and brought) them back.
So we'l see if it was the milk or the manufacture that made it so good.

Good luck to them anyway. Don't want to be too negative.

The milk will make a large difference to the quality and taste, but so does how they mix and add the flavours. As long as they buy in good quality milk produced from Guernsey cows we shouldn't notice any difference. Even if they didn't use Guernsey milk, using a similar, creamy, milk such as from Jersey cows should still produce good results.

Do you mean Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream?
If so, yes, it is still in production. I think this is the one they now sell from an ice cream van at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale. If so, it's OK, but no where near as good as the one they used to sell, which I think was English lakes Ice Cream.

If Brymor Ice Cream fails to make the grade then the English Lakes Ice Cream will meet my needs, as will Abbott Lodge Ice Cream, near Penrith.
:D

Aye we could have a meet starting from there in Spring or use it for travellers to the Dent do

I'm not a big fan of Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream, but they have a nice American diner at their farm outside Skipton near Halton East.

We tried Abbott Lodge ice cream last summer, but it's definitely not as good as Brymor was - I think where the cows graze has an effect on the taste of their milk, so it remains to be seen whether the reborn Brymor will live up to the expectations of chubby weekend bikers/ice cream connoisseurs :aidan

I would tend to agree with your there Steve. Though I don't think the difference is wholly down to the milk, I think it's more to do with how they flavour the ice cream. For years I've been sampling Italian ice cream (my parents have lived over there for over 25 years), and they seem to be able to consistently, across different manufacturers, apply their flavourings much more subtly than elsewhere in Europe, giving the ice cream more of a natural taste and flavour. Whereas elsewhere in Europe they tend to be a bit heavy handed with the flavourings, such that they taste a bit artificial. IMHO Brymor have always been able to apply this 'Italian style' of flavouring which others so often fail to achieve.

Near rival to Brymor in varieties & very tasty to boot

Nice tearooms too

We are blessed in Yorkshire with some great ice cream makers
