Those nice people in India cover that question every time I phone in. My only connection to the BT Openreach socket (don't need an I-plate) is from the BT Hub router, and the dedicatd phone on my desk.
BTW everyone - have a look at www.samknows.co.uk - this lists details of every BT Exchange, bundled or not, in your vicinity and tells you about the plans for upgrades, plus all the service providers in your area. A great site to use to fight the BT bullshit!
