According to the BT Infinity map our exchange (Brigg 01652) is recently connected and real broadband ,rather than the snail crap we currently have, is available to order. It seems though that it's only available in Brigg and not in surrounding areas even though we're on the same exchange.
Any BT boffins know what the score is?

your exchange may be enabled for Infinity, but that does not mean that your local cabinet has been, or ever will be.

AFAIK short of inside information, you can't.

the best you can do is register interest on the Infinity website, and BT will email you when it becomes available at your location.

my exchange is not even on the upgrade list, and they put another 98 exchanges on it last month :(

but that still doesn't give cabinet level info - "FTTC status: Available in some areas"

Indeed, but that's a whole lot more information than you can get from BT isn't it? :D

look, i like to kick BT as much as the next bloke*, but if you put your postcode into BT's Infinity checker it tells you if you can get it or not. that's to the cabinet, not the exchange, so i think BT give you more info :nenau

*as long as the next bloke would really, really like to see BT given the 'kin good shoeing they so richly deserve :D

Yup...they have been offering it for over a year. Their availability checker is based on information from BT Openreach so if the Zen checker shows it's available, you can order from any other provider if you wanted to. A telephone number check is more accurate than post code: post codes just don't map neatly onto cabinets: sometimes a post code will even identify the wrong exchange, a telephone number won't. For fibre broadband, distance to the exchange doesn't matter, speed will be dependent on distance from premises to the cabinet as this link is still copper.
