BT45 REAR TYRE TIGHT FIT?

Just put a 400/18 64H on rear of 1981 R65 T/Shock was tight to get between s/arm and brake shoes and very little clearance on r/hand side of s/arm (1mm?) worried tyre may catch when hot? Is this the correct size as it recomends 400/18?

I put a bt45 on my twin shock 1979 r80 last year; was a very tight squeeze to get wheel back in also, but had no rubbing problems subsequently

You often have to let the tyre down to get it in then re-inflate!

A nominal 4.00 BT45 is actually 118mm wide. Try the new Michelin tyres which are available in imperial sizes. They are properly sized and seem to work very well.
