I've tried Osram Silverstars in my headlight and although they're better than standard bulbs I'm sure they can be improved on.

I realise that auxilliary lights are probably the way to go but I want to avoid this if possible.

PIAA Extreme Force's were recommended to me but research shows that PIAA make many different bulbs and I'm a little bit confused now.

These are what I have come across.

Extreme Force 4700K
Spark 8000K
Platinum Mirror White 4700K
Plasma Spark Blue 7500K
GTX 6000K
Plasma GTX 5000K

So what are the differences and which is best? Also, can you supply?

Thanks,

Andy

Have a look at Nippy Norman, he sells them.

The higher the K no. the bluer the light. I think? Too high more blue than useful. I think that the platinum ones are meant to be the best. Dear though, £30 for the H1. Consumes the same power as the standard bulb, but throws out aboit 110w.

(I see the stutter is not any better then......... BTBR)

Hi Andy,

Sadly I cannot supply these bulbs I know a man that can..........try Mr Nippy Norman, see link above.

As for which ones I would suggest, well I and many others have tried and tested the Powersport, Extreme WhitePlus, 4000 Kelvin bulbs.

These are rated at 55w but give out the light output of a 110w bulb. Therefore there is no risk at all to overloading either the loom or the OE switch gear, unlike when using 100w "rallye" bulbs!

The increase in the light output compared to 50% brighter bulbs is literally quite staggering to be honest.

BUT, which ever ones you do decide to go for, you must make sure that they are the Powersport range of bulbs. They have a stronger filament and are designed for motorcycles and ATVs.

While all entire range of PIAA bulbs will all do the same job, most of them are not suitable for this application. The consqeunce is of course premature bulb failure and at something like £30 a bulb, thats the last thing that you want?

Hope this helps?

Have you thought about fitting HID lights.

I fitted a HID light to my dipped beam for £125. It took abot 90 minutes and has made a huge difference to the length/ width of beam, the brightness, and the ability to pick out roadsigns/ catseyes etc.

I can still see the definition of the HID dipped beam when I put the full beam on.

It's made riding at night much safer and does not place any more load on the battery.
