I have a noticeable (but not hugely so) buckled front wheel on my 1100 GS that needs sorting. Can anyone recommend someone in or around central London that would be able to sort this out?

thanks in advance
Sol

wheel building and repairs

you could try

Dave Norris
01895 253 525

he is based in Hillingdon, I have his address but I dont want to post it on the net, but I will happily send it to you if you contact me. He works from home but he the best wheel builder I have ever come accross, very quick and cheap. He is not far from A40 western Ave.

hope that is of use

Hagon response shocker

thanks for that number and will check him out but...
I have been on the phone to Hagon who say that the wheels cannot be trued up and that you have to buy the parts and they will put the wheel together for £60. Much as I would like to trust Hagon to know what they are talking about...can this be all truth? (the part about the truing up not the £60 charge)

Rebuilding a spoked BMW wheel is difficult because of the construction.

There's information about the wheels on the R1100GS page and a PDF by Ricardo Kuhn and co which talks about taking upwards of 5 hours for a truing a buckled wheel.

Unfortunately, because of the amount of time, effort and the skills required, it's often cheaper to just buy new bits.

Thanks for that very detailed read Mr Womble. I will be giving any ideas I may have had of a DIY nature a very wide berth indeed and confirms the Hagon line IMHO.
