Buggered old geezer does France...

Still over 10 miles out in the North Sea.....hope none of us are waiting to get back on tonights boat from Amsterdam...
Now over 2 hrs late.....luckily able to contact lodgings in Dun s Meuse.
Their reply...'courage!!!'

Now the captain tells me he hopes to have us alongside at 1330.
What an adventure!
Just pleased we are not having to get kitted up and head off ...late....into the storm on 2 wheels! Call me a poof if you want! Don't care!

Your plight has reached my news app

Nothing since 13:01 UK time. Has the vessel foundered in heavy waters, as the Lloyd’s record would say?

A Dutch friend had said they've had a code red weather warning for North Holland and highest ever recorded winds at 145km/hr, rather you than me, hope you arrive safely, what an adventure!IMG_D557AEC210A3-1.jpegIMG_FD8BA4197147-1.jpeg

Dreadful!
Took ages to unload due to boat going up and down on the ramps. Finally off about 1430
Obviously a hell of a storm...lots of trees in carriageway still, lots of leaves etc
Still heavy showers all the way through Holland and into Belgium.
Finally fined up in France down to our lodgings in Dun sur Meuse arriving at 2100.
Perfectly adequate room which will serve the need for one night.
Shitty day really, mostly on soaking duallers, loads of delays, that bit of Holland really is the rectum of Europe...sorry Dutchbryn...but now in the delights of rural France.

Hotel Le Rale Des Genets

This place is just up the road from The Two Wheel moorings, known to lots of us....must find out if its still going...but tomorrow...

Really pleased to be on 4 wheels this weather!

Excellent stuff Gerard :beerjug:

Agree, doesn't sound like that would have been an enjoyable experience , both thinking about the bike in the bowels and then having to ride for a few hours in ' sporty ' weather afterwards.
At least there was breakfast of sorts.
How did the mini bar / complementaries hold up ?

Check out Fasthôtel Le Râle Des Genêts on Booking.com! https://www.booking.com/Share-lo9e3X

Recommend this place ..clean, decent price, nothing smart but ticks all the boxes for an overnighter.

Wake to the sun..that's better!
Off to see the local WW1 sights and down the Voie Sacree....see Pete, I was listening...on our journey south west.
The Ardennes looked stunning as ever on the way down once the weather had sorted itself out.
Bastogne is but a short diversion on the journey down if you are so minded...done it.

Gold star (and a dram) waiting for you, Gerry. See if you can find that place we had lunch at ...

"No monsieur ... lunch is feenished. Per'aps I ask chef if 'e can make omelette et frites?" I dream about that meal!:drool:drool:drool

Have a good trip. Braver man than I wearing tan trousers :D

I popped into my local pub yesterday, spent a lovely half hour chatting to a Dutch couple who are here on holiday, touring the UK. They love our country(s)..made a refreshing change from those who think it’s a festering dump compared to anywhere else on the planet :beerjug:

Following your posh trip Gerry 👍
You dodged a bullet there by taking the Volvo 👍
In 2015 returning from a Norway trip we rode into the most serious storm in Holland .I have never experienced ought like it and was very afraid for our very lives . It came on Very quickly and the ferocity was almost unbelievable . Not an experience I would care to repeat 32C7DC81-448C-419C-A3E0-E9B62C2833DD.jpeg
