In my first 100 miles, it being the sunny day of the year an all, the oil cooler is covered with bugs and I suffered several hits from that scurge of the English summer, gravel from top dressing of roads.

So - has anyone fitted protection for the oil cooler and headlight. If so which and any other info appreciated.

The Wunderlich thingy (for the oil cooler) works fine, looks good too.

Gravel is only thrown at your bike by other vehicles........

.......avoid other vehicles..:D

Slimbo makes an oil cooler & headlight protector in perspex or migsel and others do stainless steel oil cooler covers.

Made one from gold mesh from B & Q for a fiver, trimmed to fit & clips in to the cooler front front lips

Ok

had a look at Wunderlich and Touratech and looks like its oil cooler thing from Wunderlich and H/L protection from Touratech.

You forgot small children, low flying geese and jealous gravel trying to get a closer look; but I take your point. - if only eh!

Hi Capsize,

i've fitted the Wunderlich oil cooler protector and reckon it's money well spent.

Rang my local dealer to order a Wunderlich O/C protector and have been told 'no problem, but, there are 50 on back order and delivery is likely to be measured in months!

Seems everything 1200GS is destined to be waited for.

The Wunderlich oil cooler screen is $74.95 plus shipping, here in the USA. I took some 1/4" poultry screening and made a decent guard in ten minutes. We have fairly large grass hoppers out here due to all the grain fields. This time of the year they are a real hazard. Pity the rider without a windscreen or goggles! I had several wedged in the screen which prompted me to do my home made model.

STILL Love the bike!!

Hi capsize, i have only just finished making the stainless oil cooler cover for the 1200, a few other members are getting theirs next week and i can supply you the week after (early Oct)
Cost is £33 inc p&p for the UK.
It mounts under the beak with stainless screws and nyloc nuts which replace the original screws holding the beak on.
Check out "Gazza" 1200 oil cooler grill.
Or e-mail me for photo's.

Regards
Brian.

Hi Reyno would love to see some photos of your oil cooler cover. Could you post some. I have also been told by a local supplier here in Madrid they have the Wunderlich ones on order and waiting.

Hi Reyno

Thanks for that.

I will have to check that Wollaston won't want to charge me for a cancelled order, then i will get back to you.

Tim

Not shown in this early shot but nyloc nuts are used where possible.
All fasteners are A2 stainless.
