Bumblebee ripe for a restoration.......let's go go go

For some reason Mark I've got three of those now :nenau
You can have one if you want :thumby:

I know you can buy pattern cables half the price of genuine BMW but really the difference is clear and they last much much longer :thumb

.... and they fit perfectly.

I like your work ethic :thumb

These new BMW collector boxes are bloody lovely and when you look at a stainless Y pipe these aren't much more expensive

I had some new handlebars so fitted those along with new mirrors, switch gear, grips and hand guards. The front indicators and arms are new from BMW and headstock bearings top and bottom all finished off with a new top nut. With a nice stainless throttle top screw (not in the photos)

The main wiring loom was a bit of a ball ache, I bought new everywhere else as the price was acceptable but the main harness was big money and as you don't see it I thought I would take it into the kitchen and clean it all up with some wd40 an old rag and some nice clean T towels :D as you can imagine she wasn't very chuffed :augie

The rear silencer was a one off special :blast and was straight off and placed in the recycling bin ( see items for sale thread :augie )
It's actually still available.....anyone ??

That's the good side........

I don't know what goes through people's minds sometimes my 5 year old could have made that!

No, I like to get on with it all otherwise I forget where it all goes when it comes to putting it back together :D
The worst bit is waiting for things like powder coating and painting as these take the most time. Parts availability for these bikes is generally very good, to be honest I buy most of them from BMW I get 10% off which doesn't sound much but it's more than motobins and motor works give for genuine parts. For example the rear mudguard was brand new from BMW,arrived in a few days, was already primed and I know it will be good quality and fit exactly :thumb2 it was £90 inc vat, not so bad really. Rear wiring harness was genuine bmw and £30 ish, it looks great and is much better than cleaning and repairing the old one.

BMW are usually very good with parts and don't palm you off with cheap after market parts at inflated prices like some yorkshire parts companies do.

My local Wirral/Cheshire main dealer ( IMHO ) is awful for parts .... but I totally agree with you ( then again we'd be lost without the mail order companies ) !

I'll come up with a plan then, keep it safe and plan what you're gonna spend the money on.:thumb2

RT should make room for two smaller bikes... what you gonna get? :D

BMW Oz doesnt do spare parts, so when I redid the electricals on my G/SI have used mainly Bobs BMW in the US and they were able to get everything that is on the fiche at pretty much the same prices as anyone else, and sometimes a little less.
EME in the US stocks genuine factory parts too, usually cheap, and his alternative parts are as good as OEM if not better.

Just a thought if anyone needs some parts taken off this bike give me a shout, things like mudguards, headlight surround, mirrors, wiring, indicators etcetc etc I can post them out to you.

I've also got some crash bars, side stand, rear light, rocker covers, pannier frames and lots of brackets and a comfort seat!

Fuck me Florry .... this is all coming together better than new :thumb
