Bumblebee ripe for a restoration.......let's go go go

Well I collected the paintwork from Tunneruk last night and it's well on its way now. Here are a few more photos. I still have the front brake lines to fit and daft little jobs but what do ya think?

As it was Mats bike I thought it only right to have his logo somewhere on the bike, so the number plate frame I've had kicking about was just the job

I have fitted some nice qtech lowered foot pegs and gear shifter, along with the bar risers it's good for a tall guy!

Fair play to you for NOT painting the frame blue and the forks white! :D

Nice resto (Make that a Rebuild! :blast )

Tastefully Done! :rob

Very nice indeed. The refurb starts on mine in a month or so. Gives me something to aim for.

How does it work over in England for MOT with a KMh only speedo?

its a total No No over here i.e.

Must be Dual marked

Must be illuminated (stickers on Glass is not sufficient)

Must be permanently affixed to the vehicle (GPS not qualified under that)

Some right fuckwit Doo dahs justifying their existence making up rules and regulations

All of the above apply to a 50cc moped right through to superbikes!

Refurb Have you made it very dirty now ???

Yours has appropriate patina It was "quite" shiny when it left here! Much Shinier than when it got here!

Don't do it Unless you have other wheels because they are addictive you take off one thing and then you have a frame sitting and you think I'll maybe just powder coat those bits before I rebuild it :aidan

As evidence to addictiveness I offer this thread as evidence! :rob

The crash bars and rear sub frame first Jay. Maybe the handlebars and forks. Nice n easy does it! Bought those bits from the chap in Edinburgh so they'll be going on at some stage. Then maybe a new collector box. Then a new silencer then ... aaaaaaaaaargh!

John

You have done a wonderful job with this. I'd be very happy to have this in my garage.

looking fantastic, is it going to be the best ten grand bike, that seven grand can buy? :D

Ian you are spot on! It's so frustrating that you spend thousands of pounds on this sort of thing and then ask £10k for it and guess what...........feck all response. I haven't added up the costs but it will be quite considerable. Just the wheels and tyres nearly £600! Gearbox £600, exhaust £500, paint £650,powder coating, blasting, BMW parts, moto bins, motor works,Chris Shaw, boxer supplies, and many others have all relieved me ( and not in the way I would have liked ).....but there is no point in sprinkling a bit of glitter over a shite as it's still shite underneath :nenau

Lovely bike !!!

Bit confused-have you advertised it for sale then ?

Superb work John. Love the twin disc set up, makes it a bit special, nice touch with the number plate holder too.

It's builds like this one and the all the others you've done that really sparked my interest in Airheads. Great pics and thanks for sharing.

I do like the look without the flyscreen, I think I may remove the one on mine. Over the years I've been toying with giving mine a total refurb, but have decided to just keep it as clean as possible so it will retain some patina of age.

Hi Jay,
Mot is no problem here with km speedo and headlight is no issue either ( to be fair I stick a bit of tape on the lens then peel it off )
I suppose it may depend where you take it but I have a good man :augie

Well yes it is for sale, it's almost finished I've been in the garage tonight and fitted the small screen and brake lines. Brakes are now bled and it's ready for mot. I will then advertise it, I need to send the Dutch papers to dvla to get a uk registration number on it (2 weeks) and then some lucky guy can have it
I still don't know what to ask for it :blast maybe I could raffle it off £200 a ticket 50 tickets......someone would get a bargain :D
