Burgman Bimble

I enjoyed that Tarka, despite it being tainted by all the comments from the haters .

I thought I knew Wales quite well but there is some new scenery there I will look forward to riding. Thanks for the great photos and ride report :beerjug:

Great report! I've ridden past Lake Bala hundreds of times, but always in a car.

Going again on Monday, this time I'm taking the GS and going to have a look at the roads you describe.

Thanks for opening my eyes...

Nice one Tarka!!! I love my T Max and couldn't give a toss that "realbikers" dont get it. Until you've ridden one you have no idea how Fantastic they are,how usable and quick they can be ridden. In Europe they are everywhere and the french and Italians love them. Good for you Mate!! Oh and I'm still loving the Woodsman!! http://youtu.be/icvR4eq0Hpo

And Again!!

It does feel odd at first with your feet forwards, but remember that you can sit conventionally too.....although I`m now a total fan of feet forward travel.
Having the choice and the space to change position easily will make long distances a pleasure as I can often suffer with 'cramping' of the lower leg if my legs are bent a bit too much on a bike.

So what you have bought then is a suzuki 650 factory chop with a full fairing ?
So that makes you a chopper riding motorcycling hoodlum, with your ritchous;-) black helmet, visor and combat gear? sounds like an idea for a new tv show "Sons of Scouse"
engaged in sheep running over the boarders ?

Thats what I like about you, never afraid to push the boundries. Have fun mate looks like a hoot. Now when they do a 900 to push my fat arse about I might have to try one !!

How about a Gilera GP 800???
They go like stink!!

Yeah but they`ve got a shitey, dirty neolithic chain drive....and next to no underseat storage.
The Burgie has the enclosed gearcase final drive and 56 litres of storage under the seat.
Plus there`s the three 'gloveboxes'.

Also the Gilera filler cap is under the seat so if you`ve attached luggage to it,you`ll be unpacking and repacking at every fuel stop.
The Burgie one is on the side.

I learned that from the 'Scootering' magazine report of when they took a Burgman Executive and a Gilera 800 to Milan and back.

The Gilera may well have a bit of a sporting edge but it hasn`t got anything like the useability of the Burgie.
And the Bugie is sporty enough for me as it is. :thumb2

Cheers for the comments guys (well, most of them anyway... :augie)

I hope those who fancy trying out my route enjoy it at least as much as I do whenever I ride it.

And those tempted by a Burgie won`t be disappointed either. :beerjug:

Nice report Tarks...
Bought back good memories of Llangollywog to Mackwellygog to Rhyll or Barmouth we used to ride on weekends when I was a boy in Wersull
I love the BIG Scoots..:thumb2
I've got a little scoot on the back of wobblybox...
Don't give a fook about what others think, I just ride what I like..:rob

Seems to have been a major sense of humour failure in this thread:blast:D

I lived in the mountains around Bala for years and still have many of my best friends in the area one in particular would be on interest to you Tarka, so we could find time to pay him a visit and you'll always have somewhere for a cuppa. I've lost count how many bikes he has but, 3 Triumphs, 2 Guzzis, several old beemers, maybe still the odd Cossack etc.

These are views of his garden:D

Hi Tim,
Having seen bit of Norton I feel a raiding party could be in order:augie

TBH, the only reason that I mentioned the Gilera GP800 was that yer man Bowser said that he may be interested in a scooter if it were 900cc, or something of the like to haul his lardy fat ar#e, to use his words!!
I've looked around at a few of the scooters lately and agree that the Burgers are alot more useable than most of the others, the "sporty" Gilera range included.

Have you tried a Fuoco... :augie ;)

I do still like them...I really do.
But I think two 3 wheeled machines at Chateau Tarka is probably enough as it is. :tarka :tarka
But I do like them.....
I`d ask how you`re getting on with yours but it`s a closely guarded secret isn`t it?

OOOPS. :D

Seems to me that there is enough interest on here to start a scooter section :D

Well done to Mr Tarka for starting it off.

Cheers mate. :thumb

Well...if ADVrider can have it`s 'Battle Scooters' Forum, maybe there`s scope here too?

Hey...I can be the Moderator.....the Moderator from Hell again.....:D

Hmmm...'Mod'.....'Scooter'.... :blast

I think there may be more of us on this forum than you'd think.

Hey...nice one...I missed that first time around. :thumb2 :beerjug:

I`ll freely admit that my Burgie has really opened my eyes to a world never previously considered.
It really is just about the best two wheeler that I`ve ever owned for all reasons and all uses..all in one machine.
It`s great...it`s ticking every box and is totally practical yet fun with with it.

I`m emotionally attached to some of my other solos but if I wasn`t I`d sell all of them and just keep the Burgie,my Urals and the quad.
And my PitBike because it`s so fecking mental...but at least that`s another small wheeler. :D

Hmmm....going to have to get that restoration job under way on my 1958 Lambretta LD150 as soon as possible now!!

Tarka, you are always ready to lambast others for their choice of bike or gear. If I'm not mistaken, you refused point blank to lead a ride out if anyone had daytime running lights or hi-viz kit because .... well, I'm not quite sure why.

I don't think you can have even a little diva strop when others criticise your own personal choices. :D

The more I see of Burgmans and Silverwings the more I like them...:)

Nice report by the way..:thumb

Down here, we see way more Burgmans and Tmaxs than we do motorbikes....Never ridden one, but always been tempted to have a go on a Tmax. Used to get overtaken most mornings by a nutter on one which had a Kenny Roberts paintjob :D
Beautiful rideout and pics as usual....:thumb2
