Only issue I have had was, trying to part exchange my 46k, 18 years old bike, at any dealership.
In my many attempts been met with, " Wont touch it mate, too old, too high a mileage for us too re-sell", yada, yada, yada. then getting low balled offers intent on showing you the door.
Were not even interested that it has full service history and selling all farkled up.
Best to sell privately, and buy privately as well, here is a great place for such a bike, if looking for a good usable older one. IMO.
Personally I will never buy another bike from a dealer, last bike bought, advert said was in great condition and had gone through their workshop fully checked out, new mot etc. only to be sent 400 miles to me, as a part exchange.
Bike had burst rear suspension, little amount of brake fluid in rear master reservoir, ignition switch issue, engine covered in oil, worn front wheel bearings. So much for their mechanics then, and their so called basic checks before selling.
Safer to always visually inspect any potential purchases, ride them if possible, even from reputable dealers.
Other one I get is, "I may take your bike as part exchange, if it sold at trade price", My answer to that is "Okay drop your price on the bike your selling, in case it turns out to be a Lemon

as warranties are a hassle and an add-on".
Set yourself a price you would be happy with, and stick to it, or walk away!
